Anti-reflective or non-glare coatings have never been so good.  They are a multilayer coating placed on the front and back surface of lens to reduce glare.  This benefits everyone.  Reducing glare reduces eyestrain and fatigue when working underneath fluorescent lighting or in front of a computer.  Night vision is enhanced as more light enters the eye to help you see better and minimizes the glare from oncoming headlights.  Cosmetically, the reflection from the surface of your prescription eyewear is eliminated so people can see your eyes and it looks more natural in a photograph.

Anti-reflective coatings now use a layer of titanium as the base coat to prevent scratches, and it sealed with a layer of silicone so that it stays cleaner and smudge-free, and is much easier to maintain.
